South Sudan Chess Project

  • Instagram

South Sudan is a country going through civil wars and conflicts, leaving countless children displaced and orphaned. These children lost access to not only tools for play but also educational resources. This project aims to bring hope and joy to the children in South Sudan through chess.

First Donation

June 29, 2023

In 2023, I started chess sets donation with my allowance. This was done after learning about the situation of South Sudan, hoping that chess sets would provide students in South Sudan a good educational and playing tool, moreover, hope. The first donation was done with five chess sets.

Second Donation

February 3, 2024

South Sudan has a large number and student and, therefore, needed way more chess sets than five. So, even though it may be a small number, I followed up by donating twelve more chess sets for the South Sudan students.

After hearing the news about the founding of the South Sudan Chess Federation, I’ve contacted the Gangnam-Gu Chess Federation, a federation in my district, and informed them of the whole situation. This eventually led to the MOU of Gangnam-Gu Chess Federation and South Sudan Chess Federation. Along with the MOU event, I was designated as the Youth Leadership Committee Member as I have facilitated the MOU.
